The Star of Remembrance

A commemorative dedication to keep words and memories of someone who has died. It has its own documents, distinct from the gift package. It stays private unless you choose otherwise; sharing is optional.

Why people choose a dedication in remembrance

The memorial is designed for remembrance: it keeps customer-written words unchanged and remains private unless the person creating it chooses otherwise.

A real star is selected from our internal astronomical catalogue and remains identified by its scientific catalogue designation. Your chosen name belongs only to the dedication in the A Star For You Private Registry.

The document brings together the person’s dates, the connected catalogue star, a scientific sky-region image and a clear account of every source.

You review the memorial preview before checkout. The service is symbolic: it does not transfer ownership of a celestial object or change an official astronomical designation.

What the memorial includes

Memorial — the sky on a date to remember

You can choose the date that feels most meaningful to you: a birth, the day someone died, an anniversary or another moment you want to hold on to. The tool takes an archive photograph of the sky (DSS2) and orients it according to the date, place and time you enter, with 21:00 local time as the default. What you see is the portion of sky that, geometrically, lay in that direction: the starry background is real, the orientation is calculated.
