How a dedication connected to a star really works

You choose the words and meaningful date; we handle the astronomical data. This is the complete path from configuration to delivery, with no automatic translation of customer-written text.

The process, step by step

  1. 01

    Choose an offer

Compare the digital document sets. Prices include VAT where applicable, and each product page lists exactly what is included. Every dedication is delivered as digital files: nothing is printed or posted.

Because every offer is digital, a dedication can still work for a date that is close.

  2. 02

    Write the dedication

Add the dedication name, recipient, meaningful date and optional message. Your text is preserved exactly as entered.

You may add a place so the sky map and observational context relate to its coordinates.

  3. 03

    Set your preferences

You can state constellation or brightness preferences. They are considered when the available catalogue permits and are never presented as a guarantee.

Naked-eye visibility is not guaranteed; it depends on location, season, time, weather, light pollution and equipment.

  4. 04

    Choose privacy

Select public, code-only or private visibility. Memorial dedications begin with the most protective setting.

  5. 05

    Review the preview

Review how your words appear on the certificate and sky map before adding the configuration to the cart. Preview watermarks distinguish these from final documents.

  6. 06

    Check the total

The cart and checkout show the selected item, VAT where applicable and the final total, which you confirm before payment. There is no subscription or renewal fee.

  7. 07

    Give consent and pay

Required declarations remain separate and unchecked until you select them. The exact text, version, timestamp and hash are retained with the order.

  8. 08

A real catalogue star is connected

After payment, the system assigns a real star from the internal SIMBAD-derived catalogue and freezes its scientific snapshot for the documents.

  9. 09

    The documents are prepared

Digital documents are prepared after payment and made available on the order page and by email.

  10. 10

    The dedication can be verified

The certificate contains a code and QR code. The verification page shows only information allowed by the chosen privacy setting.

  11. 11

    Support remains available

Contact support with the order number for corrections, defects, damage or a mismatch with the approved preview. Applicable remedies are explained in the terms.

Common questions before choosing

Four practical answers; the FAQ page covers the full detail.

Do I need astronomy knowledge?
No. You provide the personal details; the service calculates and explains the astronomical information.
What if I type something incorrectly?
You can edit everything before payment. Contact support immediately afterwards if a correction is needed.
Will it arrive for a specific date?
Estimated preparation time: a few minutes after payment confirmation. It can vary and is not guaranteed. We email you as soon as the documents are available. Because there is nothing to post, no courier step sits between payment and the documents.
What does the recipient see?
Your chosen words, the catalogue star data, the sky map and verification code—never your payment amount or private order data.

What you receive and when

Content and delivery depend on the offer. Every product page lists its included documents before checkout.

Digital offers

The included PDF documents become available after payment confirmation on the order page and through email links.

If you want it on paper

A Star For You delivers digital files only and prints nothing. The documents are laid out for A4 printing and Premium adds an A3 poster of the map, so you can print them at home or in a print shop. No parcel is shipped and no shipping packaging is used.

Read every included document with your words, the images and astronomical data of the star reserved for you. When you buy, you receive the approved documents, linked to that same star.

The map you receive is centred on the star linked to your dedication and the region around it, not a reconstruction of the whole horizon for that date — that is what the free tool does.

The dedication is kept in the A Star For You Private Registry. It does not transfer ownership of the celestial object or change its scientific designation.
